2025 BMW M3 LCI: Preview of the New Generation with Facelift and Technical Specifications
BMW introduces a series of changes to its popular M3 model. In this article, we will discuss the new features introduced in the 2025 BMW M3, the refreshed design, increased power, and planned technological updates.
From E36 to G80: Evolution of the BMW M3
BMW has come a long way from the four-cylinder engine in the E36 model, through the six-cylinder engine in the E36, up to the V8 in the E90. The next generation of the M3 returned to the six-cylinder layout, this time with the addition of a pair of turbochargers.
The G80 model, which replaced the F80, is still equipped with the 3.0-liter six-cylinder S58 engine with twin-turbocharging, which remains one of the best-rated engines by BMW enthusiasts.
What’s New in the 2025 BMW M3: Mid-Cycle Refresh
According to sources familiar with BMW's plans, the G80 model is set to undergo a mid-cycle refresh in 2025. The Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) is scheduled to enter production in July 2024, with similar changes in the M4 LCI expected to appear in March 2024. New headlights, spotted on a camouflaged prototype, adorn the M3. Among other changes, there is the optional Frozen Portimao Blue paint, black wheels, and gold carbon-ceramic brake calipers.
The rear of the vehicle remains largely unchanged, while the dashboard will be updated from iDrive 8 to iDrive 8.5, with the main difference being QuickSelect. It should be noted that the G80 will not receive iDrive 9, as the latest operating system runs on Android Automotive.
Power Increase and New Model Variants
The G82 coupe and G83 convertible models will receive 525 HP in the Competition version. This slight power increase will also be transferred to the M3 Competition with rear-wheel drive and M3 Competition xDrive. An M4 CS model is also planned for 2025, which will be the coupe counterpart of the M3 CS. The interior and exterior changes planned for the sedan will also be applied to the wagon, which will be available exclusively in the Competition specification with M xDrive all-wheel drive.
Unfortunately, the 2025 M3 Touring model will not be available in the American market, which is a disappointment for BMW fans in the USA.
