The new BMW M5, the legendary high-performance limousine, is set to receive a facelift. BMW Group has been following a strategy where model updates are planned even before the model’s debut. The seventh-generation M5 sedan follows this pattern. Recently, a camouflaged prototype was spotted at the BMW plant in Arjeplog, revealing influences from the Neue Klasse and modern technological solutions, such as the BMW iDrive system and the curved BMW display.
Modern Front – Inspired by Neue Klasse
The new BMW M5 2027 stands out with its bold design. The front of the car features LED headlights and a grille inspired by the Vision Neue Klasse. The aggressive lines are highlighted by a new bumper with large air intakes and aerodynamic curtains, aligning with the M5 sedan's character. Additionally, ambient lighting is used to accentuate the modern style.
Redesigned Rear – Sleeker Lights and Dynamic Character
The rear of the new BMW 5 Series M5 remains a mystery, but test models suggest that the car will feature sleeker LED rear lights. These may be connected by a light strip running across the width of the trunk lid. A modified bumper with all-wheel drive M xDrive and a new aerodynamic configuration enhances the sporty character of the model.
V8 M TwinPower Turbo Engine and Hybrid Powertrain
The BMW M5 Facelift 2027 stays true to its DNA. This model will be equipped with a high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, producing 727 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1000 Nm. In electric mode, the car will be able to travel up to 200 km. The integration of Neue Klasse technology and the new WLTP procedure defined in the regulation regarding the approval of motor vehicles concerning exhaust emissions will improve the engine’s efficiency.
New Generation of the 5 Series – What’s Next?

When comparing the pre-facelift (Pre-LCI) and facelifted (LCI) versions of the BMW M5 G90, there are significant changes in both styling and technology. The 2027 model draws inspiration from the Neue Klasse, introducing a new front with a more aggressive grille and advanced LED lighting. The interior has been enhanced with a new iDrive system and a curved BMW display that improves the operation of multimedia functions. Mechanically, although the basic powertrain remains the same, improvements in aerodynamics and battery technology may lead to better performance and efficiency in electric mode.
