First Generation (E21) - The First BMW (1975-1983)
The BMW 3 Series debuted in 1975, replacing the BMW 2002 model. The first generation, designated as E21, was produced until 1983. The E21 was available only as a two-door sedan and immediately gained recognition for its dynamic driving characteristics and modern technological solutions, such as the use of fuel injection in the 320i models. It was at this time that BMW's legend as a producer of sporty cars began.
Second Generation (E30) - BMW's History (1982-1994)
Introduced in 1982, the second generation of the 3 Series, designated as E30, became a pop culture icon of the 1980s and 1990s. It was on the basis of this generation that the first version of the legendary BMW M3 was created. The E30 offered not only two-door versions but also four-door sedans, convertibles, and station wagons (Touring). The introduction of all-wheel drive in the 325iX model showed that BMW was focused on innovations that enhanced safety and performance.
Third Generation (E36) - A Design Breakthrough (1990-2000)
The third generation, known as the E36, debuted in 1990. The design changes were significant - the car gained more aerodynamic shapes and an elegant appearance that immediately appealed to customers. BMW introduced six-cylinder engines with a displacement of 2.0 and 2.5 liters into the 3 Series for the first time, raising performance standards. The M3 E36 version, with a 3.0-liter engine producing 286 hp, became a model of a sporty sedan.

The BMW E46, introduced in 1998, quickly earned the status of one of the best sports cars of its time. Its modern silhouette and excellent driving characteristics made it one of the most popular models in its segment. The E46 offered a wide range of engines, from economical four-cylinder units to powerful six-cylinder engines in the M3 model, which gained cult status. Today, the BMW E46 is often used by young drivers for drifting due to its affordability and fun driving experience. The E46 is currently a budget-friendly option, with prices ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 PLN, meeting the expectations of many drivers.

The fifth generation, designated as E90 (sedan), E91 (station wagon), E92 (coupé), and E93 (convertible), introduced a new level of technology and comfort. Debuting in 2005, it was recognized for innovative solutions like the iDrive system, which revolutionized the user interface. The M3 versions from this generation were powered by high-revving V8 engines with 420 hp, making them some of the most exciting models in the brand's history. Today, the BMW E9x models belong to the mid-range price segment and are appreciated and frequently seen on the roads.
Sixth Generation (F30/F31/F34) - Modernity and Innovation (2011-2019)
The sixth generation, introduced in 2011, brought revolutionary changes in design and technology. Seventh Generation (G20/G21) - Evolution of Excellence (2018-present)
The current, seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series (G20 - sedan, G21 - station wagon) is synonymous with modernity and advanced technology. Since its launch in 2018, the G20/G21 has been recognized for its innovative solutions, such as semi-autonomous driving systems, a fully digital cockpit, and advanced engines that combine efficiency with low emissions. The M340i model, with a 374 hp engine, is a perfect example of BMW's capabilities and the new 3 Series.
