The front of the car is distinctive and muscular, with a clearly defined bumper. The G90 version may have a more prominent front bumper compared to previous models. Another characteristic element is the radiator grille, which may have a distinctive pattern and be the central design point of the front of the car. The body lines are dynamic and fluid, emphasizing the sporty character of the car. You can expect the side lines to have some cutouts and bold creases, adding aggressiveness to the overall look. The rear lights can have a modern LED pattern that emphasizes the sporty character of the car. The G90 version can also have unique details such as special rims, a rear diffuser or a spoiler that add character and aerodynamics. However, please note that the above information is based on general descriptions and photos that have been published to date, and the final exterior design of the BMW M5 G90 may differ from the details presented here.
Inside, we expect the BMW M5 (G90) 2024 to feature a large curved display (a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen). Of course, the systems will be powered by iDrive 8. M sport seats are standard, but we certainly expect options for carbon bucket seats. Naturally, carbon fiber elements will be part of the cabin package, along with high-quality leather and finishes.
On the side of the car, there are markings indicating "Hybrid Test Vehicle," confirming what we already knew – the M5 G90 will be a hybrid. Indeed, it will be equipped with the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the BMW XM. The twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine is coupled with an electric motor and purportedly will produce around 718 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, the petrol unit 577 hp and 750 Nm, while the electric unit will contribute 194 hp and 280 Nm. Energy will be stored in a new 18.6 kWh capacity battery. It is smaller than in the BMW XM (which has 25.7 kWh), making it over 100 kilograms heavier than the fully electric BMW i5 M60. The new M5 G90 will ride on standard tires size 285/40 R20 at the front and 295/35 R21 at the rear. Despite being heavier than the current model BMW M5 F90 (which weighs around (1945 kg-1985 kg), the upcoming BMW M5 (G90) will be the fastest M5 model in history. This is quite difficult to imagine, as the current M5 CS achieves 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and covers the quarter-mile (402 m) in around 10 seconds. The electric mode range of the latest M5 is currently unknown.
Production of the BMW M5 G90 will begin in the summer of 2024, and shortly after, around fall or winter, the premiere of the BMW M5 Touring G99 will take place. We've known about the likely return of the BMW M5 Touring for several years. While the M3 Touring unfortunately remains a forbidden fruit in the United States, the latest sources claim that the BMW M5 Touring is coming to the United States to revolutionize the market in the family car segment.
